| Description: Total Loss. This is a 2005 Polaris Fusion 900. The loss description on this one said the throttle stuck and the sled went into a clump of trees. We checked the throttle and it seemed to operate fine. When we started it the motor fired and revved up to about 3/4 throttle. We immediately tried to shut it down but quickly found out the kill switch, tether(ignition) was improperly wired not allowing the motor to shut down. To make a long (and interesting story) short the sled drove about 4' until it bumped into a wall and continued to run with track spinning. Due to heavy smoke & debris we were not able to take additional methods to shut it down. The exhaust eventually ignited and caused fire damage to the right side of the seat, track, bogey wheels and possible other items. We used a fire extinguisher to put out the flames which also stalled the motor. Please read estimated repairs section. This sled is at our Cannon Falls, MN facility |
| Damage from the throttle being stuck in our shop; the drive shaft lugs are sheared off, the track is destroyed from fire/heat and being run at 3/4 throttle for a couple minutes on concrete, idler wheels on right side are damaged, heat damage to right side of seat, fire extinguisher debris in engine compartment including air box & carbs. The engine still turns over but unknown as to the extent of damage caused. Other damage from the initial crash includes right side cover is missing, belly pan, windshield, hood, steering assy complete, some wiring, throttle cable and possible hidden damage |
