Why Am I Not Receiving CrankyApe.com Emails?
Some email providers filter messages based on content, subject line, or the sender's address and may put our email into a bulk or junk mail folder. This may also be the case if you are using a work email where your company has put additional, more restrictive spam filters in place. Please make sure @crankyape.com is on your "approved sender" list or "whitelist" and/or in your "address book." Occasionally mail controls will block your email completely without your knowledge or any kind of access to them. We often do not receive notice of such a block and the only solution to this problem is to let your ISP or company know you want to receive emails from us.

Spam Blockers/Filters and Email Software
If you have recently installed new email software or a new program to help defeat spam/viruses, make sure you check the settings. The "defaults" set by the developer are often more restrictive than you would want, so you will need to adjust them accordingly. Please see the suggestions below to help get you started. This is not a complete list by any means, but just a way to point you in the right direction. If you feel you didn't get an email from us that you should have, please call us immediately.

Reserve Information
A Reserve is the minimum amount required to purchase a unit as determined by the seller . The status of each unit's Reserve is listed just below the current bid price. If a unit has a Reserve, it will automatically switch from RESERVE NOT MET to RESERVE MET once it receives any bid that is equal to or greater than the Reserve amount. Once a Reserve has been met on a unit, the highest bid will win the auction and the high bidder is responsible for purchasing the unit.

Many of the units sold through CrankyApe.com have Reserves that are set by the selling company. Unfortunately we can not disclose any Reserve prices. When a Reserve is not met, the high bidder will have a brief period of time to purchase a unit if it has a Buy It Now/Waiver Reserve. If the high bidder does not purchase the unit within that time period, it may show up on the Buy It Now page for all registered members to purchase. The seller retains the right to lower the Reserve at any time.

If a unit is not purchased through a Buy It Now/Waiver Reserve, we will consider other offers that are submitted. The top bid will be presented to the seller and the seller has the option accept or reject that bid. The seller retains the right to cancel the sale if no agreement is made in the event a unit does not meet the reserve.

**After placing a bid and the auction indicates the "reserve has not been met:" The seller has the ultimate decision to LOWER OR REMOVE THE RESERVE TO THE HIGHEST BID AT ANY TIME BEFORE THE AUCTION CLOSES.
Payments
You have three (3) business days to pay for your unit. Payments received after three (3) business days will be subject to a 5% per day late fee. Payment must only be submitted to our Corporate Headquarters at:

CrankyApe. com
1101 Spiral Blvd
Hastings, MN 55033

CrankyApe.com's preferred method of payment is via Wire Transfer. Wire instructions are available through this link, through a link on your confirmation email that is sent at the close of the auction, or on the FAQ page (see the FAQ titled: How Do I Wire Money To Pay For The Unit I Just Purchased?).

CrankyApe.com also accepts cash and Visa/Mastercard (3% fee) at our Minnesota location only. Payments can not be made at any other CrankyApe location.

** Due to a recent increase in fraudulent credit card transactions, CrankyApe requires a copy of the winning bidders driver's license prior to payment. The driver's license, CrankyApe invoice, and credit card must all match. **

Wires typically take 24 to 48 hours to process and are not instantaneous transactions.

Wires originating from outside the United States have an additional $25 fee. The $25 fee is in addition to any fees your bank may charge you to process the wire.

We do not accept checks unless it's a certified check.

CrankyApe.com is also an Approved Auction for Automotive Finance Corporation (AFC). We will accept payments on your behalf from AFC drawn against the credit account you have established with this lender.

Defaulting penalties
Defaulting on a unit means that you were a high bidder on a unit, the reserve was met, and you do not to pay for it within the allotted time frame. It is also considered a default if you indicate at any time that you will not be paying for the unit. There are penalties for defaulting on a unit, including being charged for the cost of the unit, or $1,500.00, whichever is less. This charge is a penalty, and is NOT considered payment for the unit. The defaulting party will also lose all bidding privileges with CrankyApe.com. Once you have defaulted, you cannot regain those privileges.
International Buyers
As an international buyer, you need to take the extra step of finding out prior to bidding if the unit you are buying is admissible into your country. Please research this online or contact your border crossing for details.

Visible vin numbers and/or compliance labels may be important when importing your vehicle. Please view all photos, and let us know if you do not see what you are looking for. Please research the requirements you need prior to bidding.

Previewing units prior to bidding
We encourage all buyers to view units before bidding, as all units are sold AS IS! Our locations hold regular business hours. Please see our Locations page on the left for more details.
All units are sold AS IS
All items are sold AS IS with no warranties expressed or implied.

We make a good faith effort to describe items as accurately as possible; however, MRC is not responsible for information provided in error. You agree to this policy when you place your bids on Crankyape.com. We encourage all buyers to view units prior to bidding, as well as run a Carfax report on the VIN # provided PRIOR to bidding. Please be sure to read the description of each unit thoroughly, as well as view ALL of the photos prior to bidding!

When submitting each bid, you agree to the following: We describe all units based on a visual inspection only. We make a good faith effort to accurately describe each item, however there may be hidden damage, or we may unintentionally miss damage that may appear obvious to the buyer. By clicking OK, you agree to our terms and conditions and are aware that ALL ITEMS ARE SOLD AS IS despite what is written or not written in the description.

Many times units may sit for extended periods of time, causing batteries to die or become unusable. CrankyApe.com is not responsible for replacing batteries on any units. Inspect vehicles closely for year, make, and condition before bidding. CrankyApe.com does not guarantee vehicles; rather the buyer is responsible to verify condition & mileage. The year, make, model and/or odometer readings posted are not guaranteed.

The written descriptions and estimated repairs are provided as a courtesy. The bidder is required to view all photos and agrees that not every issue will be posted on the auction. The photos serve as additional documentation as to the overall condition. This is an auction and all units are sold "as is." It is the bidder's responsibility to inspect or have the units inspected by a third party prior to bidding. If you are not sure or have concerns about bidding sight unseen, please do not bid.

*** NO REFUNDS ***

*** NO EXCEPTIONS ***

Absent Bidding
To place an absent bid you must place one manual bid on the unit so the system recognizes you as a bidder on this unit. At the same time the manual bid is placed (which should be pre-filled in with the amount necessary to outbid the current bidder), check the absent bidding box and enter the maximum amount that you are willing to pay for this unit.

This is not your bid price. Simply the maximum amount you are willing to pay for this unit. This will automatically increase your bid by the minimum bid increment anytime anyone outbids you, until either the auction closes or your ceiling has been hit. The system will also increase your bid up to the reserve amount if the absent bid placed is greater the reserve amount.

The presence of and the amount of absent bids are kept strictly confidential.

  • Example: You are the high bidder at $2,150.00 with a $2,202.00 absent bid and the minimum bid increment is $50.00. The minimum bid someone would have to place to outbid you would be $2,203.00. This would be more than the minimum bid increment and greater than your high bid.

  • If an absent bid is placed for an amount that is above a unit’s reserve price, the absent bid will jump up to fulfill that unit’s reserve. It will not go up again until it is needed to outbid someone else.

  • If a manual bid is placed that is the exact same amount as the highest absent bid placed, the bid that was placed first will win the unit. For example: An absent bid is placed at $30,000 for a unit. On that same unit, a manual bid is placed at $30,000. The bid placed first will win the unit.
Auction close times
All of our auctions close between 12:00pm CST and 3:30pm CST. The specific close time of each unit will be listed in each unit's bid information. The unit's auction will close as soon after the specified end time as the bid system has been idle for 5 minutes. Every time a bid is placed, that 5 minute time clock starts again. This is to prevent someone from placing a bid at 11:59am so that no one else has the opportunity to outbid them. If you are interested in a particular unit, we want to give you the opportunity to keep bidding on it!

  • For example: If a bid time on a unit states it closes at noon, and no one has bid on a particular unit since 11:45am, this unit will close promptly at noon. If someone places a bid at 11:58 am, this bid will close at 12:03pm. If someone then places another bid at 12:02, that bid will not close until 12:07pm and so on, until all bidding has stopped for 5 minutes (and it is after 12:00pm).

  • In order to improve web page performance, auction close times are now staggered. Auctions now close sometime between 12:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. (CST). Please take note of the close time of the unit(s) you are bidding on, as it may no longer be 12:00 p.m.!
Auction Holds and Cancellations
In rare cases, auctions may need to be put on hold or cancelled due to bankruptcy or other legal issues as provided by the consignor. If this or any other unforeseen legal issue occurs during an active auction, the sale lot may be put on hold or removed completely as deemed necessary by CrankyApe.com. No bidders will be held to their bids if the unit has been put on hold or cancelled. If/when the unit has been cleared for sale again, CrankyApe.com may extend the current auction or re-run the unit at a later date.

**CrankyApe.com reserves the right to put on hold or cancel any auction at any time up to and after the closing time of the auction.
Title year vs. year established by the RV manufacturer
Occasionally the year on the title will be different from the year established by the RV manufacturer. Why?

This is a very common question within the RV industry and not just specific to a particular manufacturer. The chassis of a motorized product is purchased from a chassis manufacturer (Ford, Chevy, Workhorse, Freightliner, Spartan, etc.) as an "Incomplete Vehicle" (with an established chassis serial number). When a manufacturer completes the vehicle, a model year is assigned, along with the manufacturer’s serial number to the coach portion. The RV industry and chassis manufacturer model years change at different times. For example, an RV manufacturer may introduce the 2007 model year unit in June of 2006, but the chassis manufacturer does not introduce the 2007 chassis until September of 2006.

Because the manufacturer "Completes the Vehicle" and assigns the model year, the value of any unit is determined by the model year of the coach, not necessarily the chassis, even if the chassis is listed on the title. It is a very common practice in the RV industry for units to be titled by the chassis. The chassis may also be 1-2 years older than the actual coach.
Unit warranties
All units are sold As Is with no warranties expressed or implied.

Occasionally the previous owner of a vehicle will have purchased a warranty. In the event that this unit would be repossessed, the warranty will often times be cancelled and be paid back to the lender in an effort to repay the amount owed on a unit. If further research is conducted by the CrankyApe bidder to discover there is a warranty, please be advised that this may be cancelled by the lender at a later time.

Other manufacturer warranties that may be applicable will need to be researched by the bidder to determine whether it would still be in effect when purchasing units through CrankyApe.com.
Titling
CrankyApe.com is required to process the title and/or registration for units located in the same states as our locations, that are purchased by residents located in the same state. Additional forms may be needed to process title work. Title processing may take 10-12 weeks from the time the paperwork is received by CrankyApe.com. Depending on the state, plates may come in a shorter time frame.

All other US residents: The original documents will be sent to the address on the buyer's bill of sale via regular mail after the unit has been picked up. It will be the buyer's responsibility to transfer the unit into their name through their local DMV or title/registration agency within 30 days. Please make sure your address is current.

In-transit permits that will serve as a license plate while bringing your unit home are available at each location except Georgia.

Permits may not be able to be issued for salvage units, depending on state location requirements.
Impound units sold on a bill of sale vs. a title
Impound units that are described as being sold on an official bill of sale do not have titles available. In order to obtain a title, the unit must be inspected to be deemed "roadworthy" at an official inspection site in Minnesota. The paperwork from this inspection should be turned in to a Minnesota DMV, which will then require a Minnesota address to register the unit, including fees and sales tax. A title will be received for the unit within 7-14 weeks of that submission.
Title Brands
A title "brand" provides important information about the condition of a vehicle. It is a permanent record that prints on a title issued for a vehicle sold. The insurance company selling the unit determines the estimate of repairs. Please check your state and/or country's registration regulations regarding these title brands prior to bidding on a unit.

No Title Brand = Estimate of repairs are between 0% and 30%.

Insurance Claim Paid Brand = Estimate of repairs are between 30% and 70%.

Salvage Brand = Estimate of repairs are between 70% and 100%.

Prior Salvage Brand = The vehicle previously had a Salvage Brand, but was inspected and processed to show it had a prior salvage.

Junk Brand = Estimate of repairs are over 100%. No title can be issued and the unit will be sold on a bill of sale.

Winterization of RV's and Boats
CrankyApe.com will “Freeze Protect” the units located at the Minnesota, Texas, Arizona and Indiana locations during cold season months. What does this mean?

Watercraft:
  • Inboard boat motors: The block is drained, and has anti-freeze cycled through it. The lower unit drain plug is cracked open to remove any excess water that could be in the oil.
  • Outboard motors: The motor tilted down to allow the unit to drain properly. The lower unit drain plug is also pulled and checked for water.
  • Jet boats and PWC that have a closed system: The block is drained and has anti-freeze cycled through it.
  • Jet boats and PWC that have an open system: The unit is tipped to drain excess water and ran to exhaust any remaining water.

RV’s:
Anti-freeze is flushed through all water lines, water fixtures, and drains. All outside drains are cracked open with the covers/plugs removed.

Units are not fully winterized per manufacturer specifications. Please inspect your unit before storing it for the remainder of the winter months. CrankyApe.com does not take responsibility for any damage caused to this unit once it leaves our facility. CrankyApe.com also cannot guarantee the condition of the unit prior to the arrival at our location. We suggest a licensed professional winterize all applicable units.

Items that may be listed in a description, but not tested for functionality include: appliances (inside and outside), accessories, awnings, furnaces, air conditioning, leveling jacks (manual), inverters, plumbing, power windows, radios, navigation systems, back up cameras, slide outs. Depending on the vehicle, some lights and gears, including four wheel drive may also not be tested. We do not test the sea worthiness of boats and or drivability of units. We do not test the fuel.

Many times units may sit for extended periods of time, causing batteries to die or become unusable. CrankyApe.com is not responsible for replacing batteries on any units.

Odor in a unit is a relative factor and may vary from person to person, and any notes on odor are done in “good faith”. If you are sensitive to odors we suggest you inspect the unit in person.
Shill Bidding is prohibited on CrankyApe.com
For CrankyApe.com to succeed, our customers must have faith in the integrity and fairness of our website. “Shill Bidding” damages the integrity and fairness of CrankyApe.com. For that reason, we have a policy prohibiting Shill Bidding:

A shill is person who helps another person or organization sell goods and/or services. The shill pretends to have no association with the seller/group and gives onlookers the impression that he or she is an enthusiastic customer. Shill Bidding is bidding that artificially increases an items price or apparent desirability, or bidding by individuals with a level of access to the sellers item information not available to the general Community. Shill Bidding is strictly prohibited on CrankyApe.com by all consignors.

All bids are representation of a genuine intention to execute purchase of the unit. Bidders will be held accountable for their bidding activity and SHOULD NOT bid on an item they do not intend to purchase. Bidding on units on behalf of other individuals is not permitted. The high bidder is financially responsible to remit funds for the unit under all circumstances.
Buy It Now Auctions
Buy It Now Auctions are for selected units in which we offer one last opportunity to "Buy It Now" for a limited time at a special price after the auctions close. A unit will only show up with the Buy It Now option if the Reserve/Waiver Reserve has not been met by the time that auction is over. The Buy It Now price for each item is set at the same amount as the Reserve/Waiver Reserve value. The first person to purchase the unit at that price immediately becomes the winner of that unit, regardless of any other previous bids.

There are two kinds of Buy It Now auctions. The regular Buy It Now and the Waiver Reserve Buy It Now. The details of each are listed below:
  • Buy It Now - This kind of auction is just like a regular auction with a Reserve value. If at the end of the auction the Reserve value is not met, the auction closes without a winner. But with Buy It Now, people get a second chance at buying the item outright at the Reserve value after the auction is over. If no one decides to exercise the Buy It Now option in the allotted time, then the unit will go unsold without a winner.
  • Waiver Reserve - As long as someone bids, this kind of auction will always have a winner! People bid on the unit just like they would on a normal unit with a Reserve. The difference is that at the end of the auction if the Waiver Reserve value is not met and no one decides to exercise the Buy It Now option in the allotted time, the high bidder will win the unit by default at the value of their high bid. In other words, you might not meet the Waiver Reserve, but you could still end up winning the unit for your bid amount.
If you are the High Bidder at the time one of these kinds of auctions close and the Reserve/Waiver Reserve values have not been met, you will have a brief period of time where you are the only person that can Buy It Now. You will receive an email immediately after the auction ends with a link that gives you exclusive access to that units Buy It Now page. If you choose not to exercise the option in your allotted time frame, then Buy It Now is opened up for everyone else to use. It pays to be the High Bidder at the end of an auction even if you didn't meet the Reserve/Waiver Reserve.
Best Offer
Submit to us a serious offer for the most you are willing to pay for this item and we may be able to negotiate a deal with the seller for a purchase price less than the listed Reserve/Waiver Reserve Buy It Now price. The seller will review your offer and any other offers on the table and decide if they want to accept one or not. The seller is not obligated in anyway to accept an offer and can choose to allow the item to go unsold. If the seller agrees to your offer this is a binding agreement between both parties just like a bid and you are obligated to pay for that item. Upon acceptance of an offer by the seller the listing for the unit will immediately close and no more bids, offers or Buy It Now options will be available.
