1966 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray powered by a Chevrolet 427ci L72 V8 engine and a 4-speed manual transmission. The odometer shows 6,304 miles.

*Additional information/background*

We were told this car is original with only 6,304 miles which shows on the odometer. The suffix code on this motor is IP, which indicates a 1966 production year 425/450hp 427 V8. The serial number on the motor does match the car. Some early 1966 Corvettes were rated at 450hp but there is no mechanical difference between the later 425hp and the early 450hp cars. There were 5,258 L72 Corvettes made in 1966. There were a total of 17,762 Corvette convertibles made in 1966. Only 1,190 of the Corvettes made in 1966 were Tuxedo Black and 411 convertibles came with the beige top.

*Stolen/Recovered Insurance Claim*

Exterior: We were told the frame is bent but do not see any significant damage. The height difference between the left and right sides is within a 1/2" front and rear. The front bumper is crooked because the mounts are slightly bent. The undercarriage is starting to form some surface rust. There is a shallow dent on the left side of the cross-member at the rear of the transmission (possibly from someone using a jack in the wrong location?). The right inner taillight does not work. None of the headlights or forward marker lights work (the power operated hidden headlights do open correctly). The fiberglass below the grille on the left front is cracked. The louvers on the hood are loose. The left side exhaust heat shield is loose because the screw ripped out of the fiberglass.

Interior: The clock bezel is not attached and the bezel lens is cracked. The finish on the seat backs is peeling. Some of the chrome interior trim pieces are pitted. The right side front roof latch is not attached. The gas pedal foot-pad is not attached to the actual linkage.

Mechanical: This car does have an oil leak that appears to be coming from the rear main seal. The service brakes do not work (the right front caliper appears to be leaking).
